snowdrop 100x100 Mesothelioma attorneys killed in plane crashTwo colleagues in the legal community who fight for justice for the victims of asbestos exposure were killed this week, when their plane crashed in Mayfield Village, Ohio, on Tuesday, April 28. Michael Doran, 51, of Doran & Murphy law firm in Buffalo, New York, and 26-year-old firm associate Matthew Schnirel were killed when the plane piloted by Mr. Doran crashed shortly after takeoff from Cuyahoga County Airport in Cleveland, Ohio.

File Grace abatement claim by Oct. 31

According to a news release from the claims processing agent for W.R. Grace & Co. Bankruptcy, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware has set a Bar Date for Zonolite Attic Insulation (ZAI) claims to be filed in the W.R. Grace Bankruptcy case. To preserve a claim against W.R. Grace & Co. and related entities (”Grace”), all persons and entities with ZAI claims must file on or before Oct. 31, 2008. Grace filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code on April 2, 2001. Dana to settle 7,500 asbestos suits

An Associated Press report Nov. 2 announced Dana Corp. has agreed to pay a total of $2 million to more than 7,000 personal injury claimants to settle asbestos lawsuits. The company, an auto-parts supplier, produced gaskets containing asbestos. A Nov. 15 hearing was set to review the proposed settlement.
